THE REALITY OF GOD

In this article I want to be very clear and very forthcoming about the reality of God! Job writes this of the Creator;  ‘In Whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind’ (Job 12:10). When we begin looking at the reality of God we must start at the beginning in Genesis 1:1—‘In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth’. There is no philosophical argument for His “reality”, it’s just plain fact. When you stop to see the world around you and all of the absolute beauty, the intricate detail in the flowers, the sunsets, the magnificent wildlife, the beauty in the storms, or of the rainbows, the magnificent human body; the hands, eyes, the hearing, and the reasoning between right and wrong, and the conscience that tells us the difference, the reality of God; the One who created everything is obvious.  We can further look at the human emotion of love and tenderness, and the outrage when justice is not done. These are the marks of a Creator that created us in love! When we reason within our self about life; it is an unavoidable reality that there must be an intelligent Creator behind all this, and your very existence as a human being who is ‘fearfully and wonderfully made’ (Psalm 139:14).

Evolution, it is said, is the only ‘logical’ explanation for life, and yet man was created with a soul and spirit. Our thoughts themselves are spiritual; in other words non-material. Your brain does not control your thoughts; your brain which is material (approximately 3 lbs.) does not produce your thoughts which are immaterial. No amount of scientific research can explain the Conscience; why do we have morals, how is it that we know right from wrong; and are troubled when we violate our conscience?  God is the One who equips us with a conscience; the ‘real’ you lives inside the body and at death the ‘real’ you lives on; though the body rots in the ground!  The very idea of evolution says that mankind is ‘progressing’, but the fact is that mankind is digressing morally and spiritually; ‘the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it’ (Jeremiah 17:9).  When we look at the earth itself, we see the hand of an extremely intelligent Creator. The earth is estimated in weight at about 5,940,000,000,000,000,000,000 metric tons! The earth is perfect for life to exist, as no other planet; it has a perfect rotation of 23 hours and 59 seconds, never changes distance from the sun; 93.7 million miles, and orbits perfectly around the sun. Who upholds this astronomical weight in perfectness? Speaking of God the Bible says; ‘He hangeth the earth upon nothing’ (Job 26:7).

God who is love (1st John 4:7,16), has done everything to make Himself known to us: ‘Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them. For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the  things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse’ (Romans 1:19,20). Our misunderstanding of God, or lack of belief in Him does not change the fact of who He is and His great love for us! Man in all his splendor, pride, and accomplishments has a problem; we are separated from God because of sin-‘But your iniquities (sins) have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear’ (Isaiah 59:2). We know this to be true because sin is universal-‘For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God’ (Romans 3:23). Our conscience also convicts us and shows us our inability to do what is right as a life style-‘If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us’ (1st John 1:10). What we all need today is forgiveness! One day we all will stand before God; ‘Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do’ (Hebrews 4:13). This is the time when everything will be out in the open; nothing will be hidden from His view.

The glorious news of the gospel of Jesus Christ; is that God offers complete forgiveness from ALL sin at the cross of His Son who took the punishment for your sin; past, present, and future if you will receive His gift of forgiveness and eternal life—‘But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us’. ‘For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord’ (Romans 5:8, 6:23). Everybody knows that they are a sinner; Christ is the answer for complete forgiveness and the only hope for eternal life! Jesus Christ took the punishment for our sins—‘But he (Christ) was wounded for our transgressions (sins), He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all’ (Isaiah 53:5,6), and God is satisfied with Christ dying for us—‘Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He hath put Him to grief: when Thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin’ [your sin] (Isaiah 53:10). Christ is the only answer for our problem in sin; the proof of this is that God raised Him from the dead—Jesus Christ was ‘declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead’ (Romans 1:4).

The Bible declares this fact: ‘Mans complete ruin in sin; Gods perfect remedy in Christ’—A) ‘For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God’ (Romans 3:23).  B) ‘For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord’ (Romans 6:23).  C) ‘That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation’ (Romans 10:9,10). This is the plain truth that leads us to salvation and eternal life!

Apart from the Bible we cannot know anything about Gods character, His holiness, His righteousness and His great love for you and me, and of the great salvation that He offers in His Son Jesus Christ. God is revealed in the pages of the Bible. The Bible has been proven trustworthy and true for thousands of years; people have tried to destroy it, rewrite it and ban it from society; but the Bible is still here changing countless lives. Man instinctively knows that there is something or someone outside of this life; and that there is something beyond death. Let me be very honest concerning those who ‘promise’ a better life, or who ‘claim’ to speak on Gods behalf. There are those who say that we can have are ‘best life now’ promising to teach the way to a fulfilling life; and yet say nothing of our lost condition; nothing of Gods great love for them demonstrated at the cross of Jesus Christ. These false teachers are feeding our egos, and our selfish ambitions; all the while leading people to hell! The Bible says: And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment’ (Hebrews 9:27). These false teachers say nothing about reconciliation to God, forgiveness of sins, nor of judgment. And then there are people teaching that we are here to ‘clean’ up society, to fix all of the problems of poverty, disease, famine, global warming—–the truth is that society is spiraling to judgment; society is out of control; and it is getting worse not better! Just because men have their own agendas, their own purposes and then try to fit their ‘idea’ of God in their plans; does not Change the fact of who God is! Listen to this: Because that, when they knew (about) God, they glorified Him Not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools’ (Romans 1: 21, 22).

Will you please my friends look at the common sense and logical reasoning regarding the reality of God. He thus wants to get your attention: ‘Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord’ (Isaiah 1:18). The God of the universe who created everything is Himself calling you to a relationship with Him, and has done everything possible at the cross of Jesus Christ to make that a reality; will you receive His free gift of forgiveness and everlasting life, by receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior: ‘Behold now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation’ (2nd Corinthians 6:2).
