Are we ready for the return of Jesus Christ

Are we ready for the return of Jesus Christ

I am writing to you today as a watchman. We are living in very perilous times (2nd Timothy 3:1). In this article I want to look at what the Bible has to say about the age in which we live, and how we are to live in the light of the Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ! We are living in a specific time in all of history which the prophets have all forewarned! We are called in these last days to ‘occupy’ until our Lord returns for us in the air! My desire in this urgent article is to encourage and admonish you to press-on in our heavenly calling!

In this article I want to address some points that will build us up in our most Presious faith and make us strong in the Lord! The first point is: ‘stay true to sound Biblical doctrine—“I the Lord change not” Mal. 3:6. To the Pastor, teacher or anyone who loves the Bible: the Lord says; ‘he that hath My word, let him speak My word faithfully’ (Jeremiah 23:28). Today we see so many who have left sound doctrine, for other interpretations to fit their view or the current trend of apostasy! God is a God of judgment; and if the popular teaching is that God is Not a God of judgment because He is love and accepts everything; then there is a great MIS-understanding of God! The Bible says: ‘But the Lord shall endure for ever: He hath prepared His throne for judgment. And He shall judge the world in righteousness, He shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness. The Lord is known by the judgment which He executeth. (Psalm 9: 7,8, 16). If we do not know the Lord as a God of judgment; we do not properly know Him! The Lord has made Himself known in His word; we can know of His love and His character only in His word! Absorb yourself in His word Daily! God’s judgment for your sins fell upon Christ when He was paying for your penalty on the cross. When he cried “My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken Me?” (Matthew 27:46) He was taking the punishment [judgment] for your sins.

Do we understand the Biblical Gospel? This is the Biblical Gospel: ‘Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures’ (1st Corinthians 15:4,5). It is faith in Christ and Christ ALONE! What must I do to be saved?, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved (Acts 16:30,31). Jesus said: ‘Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on Me hath everlasting life’ (John 6:47). It is Jesus Christ death, burial and resurrection on our behalf that saves us! LISTEN TO THIS: ‘For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, [baptism, good works, rituals ect.] lest any man should boast’ (Ephesians 2:8,9). God was satisfied with Christ dying in our place; so, He raised Him from the dead. It is Christ’s work, and His work alone that saves us, we receive Him as Savior by complete trust in Him. The late Charles Ryrie states this: “When we believe, all that Christ is, God puts to our account; thus we stand acquitted. Then God can justly announce that acquittal, and that pronouncement is justification”. I will end this section with a wonderful quoit from Harry Ironside: “The Gospel is that glorious message that tells us what God has done for us in order that guilty sinners may be saved”.

The catching away of the saints (the Rapture) is our blessed hope! ‘For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord’ (1st Thessalonians 4:16,17). The understanding of this great truth and the anticipation of His coming, produces a holier life pleasing to Him so that we will not be ashamed at His coming (1st John 2:28). We first see this wonderful truth in John 14: 1-3. A close look at the times in which we live will increase our outlook on the true lateness of the hour! The Lord is coming in the air to receive His own; are you ready?

I want to end this article with some straight talk. It is time to stop playing word games with God; you say that you love Him, but your life is everything about you and not honoring your profession! You profess to know God, but in your day-to-day life you deny Him [Titus 2:16]. Do some of you act like forgiveness of your sins is a trivial part of your Christian life? When we realize the depth of our forgiveness and stand in ‘awe’ of Christ paying the awesome price that Gods justice demands; our proper attitude is to worship Him with all our heart soul, mind and strength!! How do you start your day? Our waking hour determines the rest of the day; they say that time is the most precious thing to most people, how do you spend your time? Time spent with God in prayer is an eternal investment, what a privilege we have! Let us settle this in our hearts once for all; the bible is the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation: ‘Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of Thy righteous judgments endureth forever’ (Psalm 119:160). Pay attention because, this is what God thinks of His word: ‘For thou hast magnified Thy word above all Thy name’ (Psalm 138:2)!

I love you all,

Jeff
